LAS ÁNFORAS DE EPICURO

Amo tu delicioso alejandrino
como el de Hugo, espíritu de España;
éste vale una copa de champaña
como aquél vale «un vaso de bon vino».

Mas a uno y otro pájaro divino
la primitiva cárcel es extraña;
el barrote maltrata, el grillo daña,
que vuelo y libertad son su destino.

Así procuro que en la luz resalte
tu antiguo verso, cuyas alas doro
y hago brillar con mi moderno esmalte;

tiene la libertad con el decoro
y vuelve, como al puño el gerifalte,
trayendo del azul rimas de oro.
